Type-related stuff made easy.
Thinking
It is tempting to start with the exciting part: making a typeface that is uniquely yours. Sometimes that is exactly the right answer. But something people do not always realise is that a typeface is not only a creative product. It is also a linguistic and technical system that needs to be thought through.
We offer Thinking as a service in itself. Our commitment: unbiased, independent direction. You pay us for our time and expertise without being expected to buy anything from us afterwards.
Our approach comes from years of practice and research across type design, language, technology, and multiscript typography, supported by a wider network of specialists when needed. Thinking might mean reviewing an existing typographic system, developing a typographic direction, planning a custom typeface, working through language support, advising on multiscript typography, teaching, running a workshop, or simply answering the questions that need answering.
The point is not to make things more complicated. It is to understand the complexity before deciding what is worth making. And sometimes, Thinking is where the project should stop. No sales pitch, just honest knowledge.
Making
Marsnev & Co. also creates bespoke type-related products for individual clients. Formally trained by some of Europe’s leading type designers, the Marsnev & Co. team brings that knowledge and experience into work tailored to each project. This may include custom typefaces, logotypes, language extensions, and more.
We approach these as the same kind of problem at different scales. This does not mean every project needs thousands of glyphs or dozens of styles. Quite the opposite. We would rather work out what is genuinely useful and put the effort there.
Making, for us, is not about producing as much as possible. It is about making the right thing, at the right scale, for what it actually needs to do.
And when the right thing does not fit neatly into any of the examples above, that is fine too.
It is type-related stuff. Tell us what you are trying to do, and we’ll handle it from there.
